Sorry we are a little bit late in getting an update posted for yesterday but we had another good day! Yesterday dad began giving himself his insulin shots in the tummy. (and he would like to report that its not so bad after all!) The nurses are working to help him learn how to measure out the amount he needs, draw it with the needle, and inject it.
They were also able to remove dad's catheter yesterday....something for which he is very grateful! The physical therapist came in and ordered a walker so dad is now better able to move around the room. It is difficult for him to remember to move slowly because he is so ready to be well again. Mom, Mary Beth, and Katie have him under orders not to be up and moving without someone in the room.
We are thankful to be seeing continued improvement. What a change one week can bring! We are working to make sure he continues to get enough rest and to regain his basic living skills. And, of course, we continue to be ever thankful for our extended family in the world that continues to offer love and support as we begin the long journey of recovery.
Prayers are with you!
