Dad came out of surgery around 5:30 or 6:00 this evening. Everything went well for today. They were able to remove a lot of the bad and dead tissue in his foot and, for now, left all of the bone. The doctors will now wait to see if the foot will heal more in the coming days with IV antibiotics and a wound "vacuum" (we aren't entirely sure what this is but we are soon to discover!). Although another surgery is probably in the future, we are thankful for one down. I talked to dad on the phone around 7:45 and he had already eaten a hearty snack and was back to his normal self.
Katie and Mary Beth both made it home safely and are happy to be snuggling with their own pups in their own beds. We enjoyed being together again, although perhaps we should gather at the beach next time and not the hospital!
Continue to pray for healing and for patience and peace as dad is stuck in the hospital bed for a little while longer. We are so thankful for good friends and family who continue to show us love and support.
Thank you for today's progress report! What wonderful news to have only cut out bad tissue, no bone! Thank God! Also grateful Tim's eating good now and getting his old self back! God bless you all as these days pass, you all need rest and healing... We miss Tim in our S. S. class, look forward to his health and return~

When I saw your dad after he was back in his room, he was indeed "his normal self"! He was very alert and was most pleased that he had had something to eat. Can't you just hear him say, "I think the nurses like me!" I'm praying that your mom and dad have a good night and get some much needed rest. I'll check on them tomorrow.
