Update: Happy July 4! One day late...

It was good for the Gilbert's to be together on a holiday, though this was not the way we wanted to be together again. We spent the evening in the hospital room watching the fireworks on the T.V. and being thankful.

Dad had another good day! They were able to take him off of the oxygen and are waiting now to see what this week may bring. It looks like he will be having surgery on his foot late in the afternoon Tuesday to clean out the wound and so that the doctors have a better look at the infection.

He is still receiving heavy IV antibiotics but continues to give himself his insulin. Pray for his surgery tomorrow, that the doctors are able to clean and care for the wound on his foot and for continued healing of the infection. Pray also for dad to rest well, as well as for Karen, Katie and MB.

  1. Let us know of any way we can help. David wondered if you need any yard work, like lawn mowing, done.

  2. Tim,
I have been a diabetic since 1992, and have been insulin dependent for nearly 10 years. I give myself 4 shots every day; one with each meal and one at bedtime. It is not something that one would choose to have to do, but it is a pretty good alternative, once you get the hang of it. It even allows you some flexibility with what you eat, and that is a good thing.
If you need someone to talk to about it, let me know.
We are so glad that you are doing better. God bless you, Karen, and the girls.

  3. We opened our Sunday School class with a beautiful prayer for each of you. You all were certainly missed. We give thanks for your improvement. We completed Philemon. It is a record for The Gilbert class as we completed two NT Books in TWO Sundays! We selected our coming lessons and everyone was given a book....I can't remeber all of the books in this next series except they are from the OT and have to do with Living In Difficult Times(now that's helpful,I know!Pick a OT Book. Any Book!).
Our prayers continue to be with you. We hope surgery on your foot will go well. Know that your friends are surrounding you in prayer and love.

  5. Tim & Karen,
My prayers are with you both and your family during this time. I have been insulin dependent now for more than 45 years.Diabetes is not an easy disease but it is managable. Get all of the medical help and information you can. And if I can help at all, please let me know.
